For the second time Moscow Workshops ACM ICPC and Harbour.Space University organize the boot camp Hello Barcelona in the heart of Catalonia, Spain from September 27 to October 5. The boot camp will be hosted by our partner Harbour.Space University in collaboration with Moscow Physics and Technology University, ITMO University, Saint Petersburg State University and Codeforces!
This year the most prestigious programming competition hosted 133 teams from all regions of the world. ACM ICPC Finals took place in the small town of Rapid City in South Dakota, USA. The host university was South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
Just like last year, this year MIPT was represented by team Jinotega composed of Ivan Smirnov, Artsem Zhuk, Konstantin Semenov, coach Mikhail Tikhomirov and head Alexey Maleev. The team took the fifth place with a silver medal.
ACM ICPC is an international competitive programming contest and the most prestigious team-based competition in the programming world. The history of the championship started in 1970 when the University of Texas started to host team-based competitions among students in order to ignite interest in computer technologies. By this moment, the contest has turned into a worldwide competition.
MIPT topped the Russian university rankings for 2017 in terms of salary levels for young specialists involved in IT. The rankings were prepared by the research center of Superjob.ru based on the comparison between average income levels among Russian university alumni of 2011-2016.
About 80% of MIPT alumni that graduated 1-5 years ago stayed in Moscow with 136 000 Ruble a month. It is worth noting that the average number of points at the United State Examination of Russia 2016 for MIPT alumni has been the highest with 93.5.
