MIPT to enter Top-200 universities of Europe
The agency Times Higher Education (THE) has released the new world's top universities rankings today, on June 21. Three Russian universities reached the higher part of the top: MSU took the 93rd place, MIPT took the 151-160 places and ITMO University had the 191-200 places.
Overall the rankings featured 400 universities from Europe making up about 40% of the total number of the universities listed in another world rankings — THE World University Rankings. Universities are evaluated by a set of parameters: education, research, citation ratio, industry income (Research and Advanced Development) and internationalization.
The European rankings is most prominently represented by Great Britain with 91 universities; the first place is taken by Oxford University, followed by Cambridge University and Imperial College London (second and third places). The second place in the number of universities that reached the top is Germany with 41 university. Russia's number was 24 university and among them the leading positions were taken by MSU (93), MIPT (151-160), ITMO University (191-200).
The agency also announced the creation of a new top — European Teaching Excellence Ranking, planned to be created in 2018, and it will feature other criteria of a university's success. This way universities will anayize the quality of education and its influence on the future success of alumni.
